ARMY Phase II SBIR: "Advanced Damping Technologies for Small Turbine Engines"

APS Materials, in partnership with Universal Technologies Corporation (UTC), is engaged in a 24 month program to develop high temperature fixed-layer damping coatings in large power density jet engines used by the Army. The previous Phase I program established a proof-of-concept for the use of high temperature damping materials in the harsh environments present in these engines. Current studies are focused on developing new materials for a range of temperatures, and testing these coatings in high speed, high temperature spin environments.
